KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Migration Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of multiple concurrent cloud migrations
  • Conduct discovery assessments of existing GCP environments, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and managed services.
  • Develop detailed migration plans, runbooks, and rollback procedures for each workload.
  • Assess workloads and apply appropriate migration patterns — rehost, refactor, replace, or retire — based on workload requirements.
  • Execute structured migration waves, validate performance and stability post-migration, and transition services to steady-state operations.
  • Define and enforce migration standards, patterns, and best practices across all project tracks.
  • Coordinate migration cutover windows and communicate status updates to stakeholders throughout the engagement.

Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design and implement OCI infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC); Terraform required, Ansible and OCI Resource Manager a plus.
  • Design and maintain OCI foundational architecture including compartments, resource groups, RBAC policies, naming and tagging standards, and environment separation.
  • Re-architect GCP-native services to appropriate OCI equivalents.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support migrated applications running on OCI.
  • Automate repeatable migration tasks to reduce manual effort and risk.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, and observability for migrated workloads using OCI-native and third-party tooling.
  • Operate and maintain OCI-hosted infrastructure services including compute, storage, networking, and core platform components.

Security & Governance

  • Ensure OCI configurations align with established security standards and operational governance frameworks.
  • Enforce security best practices including RBAC, least-privilege access, encryption, network segmentation, and secrets management.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure migrated environments meet organizational standards.
  • Adhere to change control processes and maintain accurate documentation throughout the engagement.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for all migration workstreams.
  • Partner with application development teams to identify dependencies and refactoring requirements.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and internal Infrastructure & Engineering teams to support cloud migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to internal engineers on OCI architecture and operations.
  • Prepare and present migration status reports, risk registers, and post-migration assessments to program leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, discretion, organizational discipline, and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of DevOps or cloud engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a migration or cloud transformation role.
  • Deep hands-on cloud expertise with AWS or GCP (preferred) - compute, networking, storage, and managed services.
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or a strong willingness and ability to rapidly upskill.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code — Terraform required; Ansible or OCI Resource Manager a plus.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or equivalent automation language.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking: VPCs/VCNs, subnets, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, and firewall rules.
  • Experience migrating containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, or OKE.
  • Familiarity with hybrid connectivity concepts: VPN, DNS, and cloud routing.
  • Windows Server and/or Linux system administration experience.
  • Proficiency with monitoring, alerting, backup, and recovery operations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, and deliver on schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • OCI Architect Associate or Professional certification.
  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification.
  • Experience with database migration tools and strategies.
  • Elasticsearch / OpenSearch expertise.
  • Prior experience delivering engagements in a consulting or contract capacity.
