Cloud Business Analyst

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cloud Metrics & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain cloud cost and usage reports across AWS, GCP, and OCI
  • Build dashboards for key metrics (cost, utilization, efficiency, growth trends)
  • Analyze cloud spend drivers and identify optimization opportunities
  • Track and report on KPIs such as cost per service, environment, and team

Tagging & Governance

  • Define, enforce, and monitor cloud tagging/labeling standards
  • Audit environments for tagging compliance and drive remediation
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure proper resource attribution
  • Maintain governance documentation for labeling, cost allocation, and reporting

FinOps & Cost Optimization

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Identify waste (idle resources, overprovisioning, orphaned assets)
  • Partner with engineering to recommend cost optimization strategies
  • Assist in tracking savings initiatives and commitments (EDPs, reserved usage, etc.)

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Translate raw cloud billing/export data into actionable insights
  • Build structured datasets from billing systems (BigQuery, Athena, etc.)
  • Provide executive-level summaries and reporting
  • Support ad hoc analysis for leadership and finance teams

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as liaison between engineering, finance, and leadership
  • Present findings, trends, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
  • Drive accountability across teams for cost and tagging compliance
  • Support ongoing cloud governance and operational maturity initiatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–6+ years in business analysis, FinOps, or cloud cost management
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or OCI)
  • Strong understanding of cloud billing, cost structures, and usage models
  • Experience with tagging/labeling strategies and governance frameworks
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, modeling)
  • Experience with data tools (BigQuery, Athena, Snowflake, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or equivalent experience
  • Experience with cloud cost tools (CloudHealth, Cloudability, native tools, etc.)
  • SQL proficiency for querying billing/export datasets
  • Experience building dashboards (Looker, Tableau, Grafana, Power BI)
  • Prior experience in a consulting or contract role
